Spring Seed Events 2026

Hello! As I write this the sun is burning through the clouds and the snow is rapidly disappearing. Some suggest we will be in drought conditions again come April. So let’s focus on April showers to bring May flowers, shall we?

Every year we get set to travel to various seedy Saturday and Sunday events across the province. Here we meet dedicated gardeners of all levels and these events are a special time as they have all the seed people from near and far come up and join us, to bring seeds you won’t find anywhere else directly to you, and when speakers share their knowledge of all things gardening.

It is also a time we can fill and bring orders rather than shipping them (ie. potatoes, onion sets, etc.). If you wish to have us bring your order cutoff date is a week before the event date as listed below. Mark your calendar and don’t miss it!

For all events Cash is King. Please bring enough as the cash machines usually run out. We will also take one ounce silver coins in trade. If you are planning that please note we will need notice and will honour spot price that day.

Firstly we will be speaking at this 2-day event if you are interested Feb. 28 and March 1. Sangudo RegenFest 2026. Details here

Sangudo RegenFest is a two-day, hands-on skills festival rooted in prairie traditions, regenerative living, and rural community culture. We gather neighbours, makers, farmers, homesteaders, herbalists, artists, and curious beginners to learn practical skills you can use the next day.

St. Albert Backyard Gardening Group is hosting an event March 7, 2026, 10-4.

7 Tache Street, St. Albert. Come out and see what is happening right in the neighbourhood.

  1. What a wonderful write-up Denise! It’s exactly how I feel as well.

I just had my first native seed packaging event with a number of NEW volunteers this last Saturday. I’ve got two more workshops before Seedy Sunday (for ENPS) and myself, Liz and Cherry just toured JP Wagner school greenhouse (it’s amazing) this afternoon and gave them (Scott McMillan-science teacher) 64 different packages of native seed. The students learn about stratification, seed viability, germination, etc. (high school), sell seedlings to family and staff and grow plants for the school property. We’ve been collaborating with them since 2023 – it’s very cool!

I look forward to seeing you in March!
