Our Home in Alberta

“The soil is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all. It is the healer and restorer and resurrector, by which disease passes into health, age into youth, death into life. Without proper care for it we can have no community, because without proper care for it we can have no life.”

We are small seed growers in Northwest Alberta. We grow in a 90-120 Day frost-free window in the summer. I get asked, what kind of things can you grow then? (Many laughs, tongue in cheek). We have, as you can see from our catalogue, adapted.

Our seeds are grown here, on our past certified Organic land. The seeds are not certified, however, as it took too much time for the paperwork required. But rest assured, they are Non-GMO for sure and heirloom wherever possible, always open-pollinated, so you can save them too.

As gardeners, we can grow most things, but saving seed requires a long season, for which some varieties do not have enough time. You as a grower, can feel free to select from any of our varieties, knowing they will all do well in short season areas. If you choose to save seed for yourself, there are tricks we have learned which we can share.

We ship all over, and have attended seed sales across Alberta(and hope to again) where you can find us in the springtimes. If you are in the US, you take the risk that the seeds will disappear at the border. We do not ship bulbs, tubers or corms, or any live plant material over the border EVER. Most seeds, seem to make it there alright regardless.

We have a small farm. We work hard to bring you quality seeds. There is a lot to do on a daily basis to save quality seeds, and we are happy to share what we know. We do speaking engagements when asked, run on farm events of all kinds, and are ever looking for ways to improve. We do seed for home gardeners, not commercial growers. We do not have bulk seeds. We are a small business (meaning Me), so it takes me a while to do all the things I need to do in running the website, the farm store and the orders. I appreciate everyone’s patience.

Thanks, and good growing!!
